Grilled Sesame Tuna Steak

  • 4 tuna steaks (about 6 ounces each)

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: sliced green onions and lemon wedges for garnish


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

  2. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover the dish or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to penetrate the tuna.

  3. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  4. Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Sprinkle both sides of the steaks with sesame seeds, pressing lightly so they adhere. Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper to taste. Place the tuna steaks on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until you reach your desired doneness. Tuna steaks are best served with a pink center.
